Springtime On Broadway RE-IMAGINED!
This April marks the ninth year for a spring festival in Webb City’s Historic District and while festival planners are working diligently to produce an exciting line-up for this year’s event, plans for Webb City’s premier spring festival are already underway for 2018. It is exciting to announce that next year’s spring festival is going to take on a new name, a broader venue, and a bigger purpose.
For 2017, though, the downtown portion of Webb City’s spring festival is taking on a make-over of its own. Sticking with the plan to focus on the branding of our community, downtown event planners decided to take a closer look at event details and how they speak to what we love about Webb City. Webb City officials are known for being forward-thinkers and for always looking for ways to provide bigger and better services to our community. The spring festival is no exception.
Attendees and supporters have been able to see the evolution of the Springtime On Broadway festival for nearly a decade. With Mayor Biggs’ vision and the hard work of our Public Works Department crews, the Parks & Recreation Department staff, Police and Fire Personnel; the loyal and consistent local business sponsors; the cooperation of downtown property and business owners; many dedicated volunteers; and Webb City support staff, our spring festival has become an event to look forward to each year. Festival goers can expect the same caliber of event, if not better, for 2017 too.
The downtown portion of Webb City’s spring festival is taking on a new look, as well as a new name - Webb City’s Route 66 Cruise-A-Palooza, where you can RUN, RIDE & ROCK THE ROUTE. While in the past Webb City’s downtown spring festival was held over the course of two days and ran from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, this year’s event will begin at 8 a.m. on Saturday, April 8 and will run until 10 p.m. The jam-packed, fun-filled day will kick off with the Route 66 Run the Route 5k & Fun Run sponsored by Edward Jones Investments of Webb City - Brian Massey & Josh DeTar. The entertainment stage will feature non-stop local talent beginning with Pinocchio School of Dance. The local talent will wrap up with the second annual Military Appreciation Ceremony featuring the Webb City High School Jazz Band and ROTC members. The big entertainment finale will feature the very popular and much requested “Members Only, 80s Tribute Band” from 7 to 10 p.m.
Meanwhile throughout the rest of the festival venue, there will be a variety of food trucks offering tasty treats at the festival food court area, a super Route 66 Car Cruise hosted by the Webb City Chamber of Commerce, many craft vendors at the Route 66 Handmade Market, a carnival with rides for all ages, a petting zoo, pony rides, the “Old Mine Pit” and inflatables. This will be one event you won’t want to miss! Also being held on that day is the annual Easter Egg Hunt hosted by the Webb City Parks and Recreation Department.
We all agree that the success of Springtime On Broadway has allowed us the opportunity to take Webb City’s premier spring festival to the next level. In 2018, the Route 66 Cruise-A-Palooza portion of the festival will still take place and continue to grow in our historic downtown, while festival planners will continue to expand the vision that began with Mayor Biggs and the Old Urban Downtown Development Committee and to re-imagine a bigger and better spring festival with a bigger venue!
